05/09/2009 01:19

Going to add this to the Public's IT approved list. first time ever saying that about a symantec product. usually their software is worse than viruses themselves.

i messed up the message post title it can be found here.

i hope it comes down in cost, for multi-machine users.

vista 64: felt much more snappy than avast 64... avast was often stopping its guard feature and not acitvely scanning anything. it often minimized games.

antivir 32bit: often minimizes/crashes games during updates/scans. can be clunky if uber protect mode on. known to crash tf2 and l4d. for myself at least. scan is nice but requires manual delete of each item. false positives ocationally.

-both do not have good antispyware features. i will not have enough time to hopefully test symantecs lol.

end of the overlook:

commit charge: 475m / 6989m

cpu usage 4-6%

processs 45... odly it hovers much more near 4-6% than antivir on 32bit wint hat was more 2-4%.

final conclusion: its to early to tell.. hopefully i am convinced to stay using free apps at the end of my two week trial.

Update:

More than 5 days in. Its fast, stable, quiet... and stealthy when gaming. Not annoying like antivir, or as archaic to me as avast. It seems optimized on its own. HOWEVER!! It does false positive alot of popular tools, especially for security and spyware removal like combofix.exe or prodkey. They will appear as trojans.

Panda is letting users try their free cloud Panda AV software. Cloud helps it run at less than 50mb of memory (i believe 16mb)... and use less cpu cycles because the "cloud" servers that host the panda av software do the work for you.

Fallout 3 DLC content, envious.

02/14/2009 10:47

I have to save up for this. Fallout 3 has released several patches since release, most importantly moding tools, a level uncap to 30, removed endgame and added new Anchorage missions!  Initially this will only be on Gamers Live! and Xbox 360. Hopefully Steam - Valve releases an update for us soon!

More information on Operation Anchorage here!

The All in One Guide

02/14/2009 10:45

The All in One Guide was started for beta testing Darkfall online and Battlefield Heroes. It is very messy, lengthy but covers the kitchen sink. If you follow these steps you can help reduce crashing issues, speed up fps, tweak your system, better your security, remove spyware, remove viruses and update your pc... eventually I will turn the information into the knowledge source on the Public's IT.
